Does the treatment of high blood pressure cause insomnia?

high blood pressure treatment
bliss22 asked:

I take betablocker (Toprop XL) for high blood pressure and also a statin (Lovastatin) for high cholesterol. I have noticed quite a decrease in the amount and quality of my sleep . It is difficult for me to fall asleep, I wake up during the night, and I wake up early feeling tired. My question to a professional is: is there a connection?
Thanks.

Check the side effects on each of your meds. If you think they may be the reason for your lack of sleep then call your doctor. There are many different meds for the treatment of high blood pressure and high cholesterol. Good luck.
